Cover Tape Extenders (Leader Tape Strips)
One of the biggest issues is component tape waste from reels that doesn’t have a leader tape
Reel setups without sufficient leader tape pose a high risk of component waste. These tape extenders eliminate this issue by affixing to the leading edge of the top cover tape, providing an extended feed into SMT machinery. Leader tape extenders are available in 5 widths from 8mm to 32mm and are 48cm long.
Made from soft, transparent PET, these extenders combine durability with excellent electrical insulation. They are compatible with cover tape on either punched or flat carrier tapes. The extender includes a yellow peel-off adhesive tab. Simply remove the backing and attach the adhesive end to the front of your cover tape (on top of the carrier tape). The extender then feeds into the SMT feeder first, protecting your components during loading.
